ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for an evening of book making using a traditional, Japanese-style of decorative binding. This popular stab-binding technique results in exterior stitching patterns that are visible (and beautiful) on the front and rear covers. Each student will learn two different stitches and produce two small books during the class.

We'll be learning a standard 4-hole pattern for our first book and then a more complex variation on Kangxi Binding for their second. Students will leave with the knowledge to create more of these books on their own at home!

*note: sign up for one of our paper marbling classes if you'd like to make your own paper to use for one or both of your books!

Otherwise all professional-grade materials are provided including a variety of decorative papers, traditional linen bookcloth to protect the spine-edge corners (kadogire), and hearty interior pages sutible for writing or drawing.
