ABOUT ABOUT

This class is for Queer-identified folks only (and taught by Queer instructors) in order to create safe space for LGBTQIA artisans to gather, work, and learn.

This quick letterpress experience is designed to get folks printing on our Vandercook using wood type we'll already have set up and ready to go on the press (with a message of positivity from the Queer Community itself)! We partner this printing on the same sheet as some pre-Risographed artwork by guest-instructor Bill Walker who will be present to chat about his design and Riso!

We'll go over some fundamentals about letterpress printing including terminology, proper practice, and press operation. Everyone will have a chance to use the press to print their own copies of the simple poster... and leave with a few to display at home and give to friends!

Curious about letterpress? Feel like getting inky with your fellow Wisco-Queers? Great: this is the experience for you.

*NEW: now offered on a sliding scale from a $35 minimum to $75 (suggested max). This experience is valued at $60 to help pay our guest artisan and cover workshop/materials costs. For our marginalized fam, though, we want to offer a lower price option so no one's left out! Please pay what you can with the above in mind, knowing that if you are able to pay a bit more to help cover a fellow Queer who can't--great! Thank you!

>> *IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THIS TIME: This particular LP4Q session involves a poster quote from a Queer Palestinian. The Bindery is a Jewish-owned, anti-genocide organization. You may feel differently in which case this isn’t the right session for you! Please join us for another installment: we run LP4Q regularly with a different printed message each time!

*Masks are not required at the time of this posting, but are very welcome. This may change by the time of the class, and The Bindery reserves the right to require masks or other safety precautions at any time. Participants will be alerted to any changes prior to the workshop.

*Due to the small nature of classes and the upfront materials costs, The Bindery has a no refunds or exchanges policy. If you cannot make it for some reason, please send a friend in your stead and let us know!
