Discover the time honored art of calligraphy in this two part class using [provided] fountain pens. Each ticket includes instruction plus your own take-home calligraphy kit: a 1.1mm fountain pen, two ink cartridges, appropriate practice paper, and several lettering guides! Taught by artist and long time arts-educator, Jodi Brzezinski: we just can't wait.
This class happens in two consecutive Tuesday sessions:
November 12th, 6pm to 8pm
November 19th, 6pm to 8pm
Calligraphy can be stand-alone artwork all by itself, or be used to adorn cards, invitations, or a special sign-off on a letter. (Attendees may be interested in joining our concurrent holiday card workshop in order to put their new writing skills into action!)
In this class you will be introduced to a foundational calligraphy font: the formal italic alphabet. We'll learn how to properly hold and use a fountain pen, read a lettering guide, and create each letter of the upper and lowercase alphabet together. This is a techniques class with time to practice between each session at home. Each student will gain a solid understanding of basic calligraphic-writing through careful and patient formation of letters first, then full, connected words.
